Pvt. Arthur O. Haukland was born December 31st, 1889 in North St. Paul MN. He enlisted February 3rd, 1918. Served with the 79th Company, 6th US Marine Regiment in France from May to October 1918. He received the Purple Heart with a gold star, World War I Victory Medal with three clasps, French Fourragere. Killed in action in France, October 4th, 1918.
Arthur O. Haukland VFW Post 1350 was chartered by 31 local veterans on October 10, 1934 in the North St. Paul library. The Post was named in honor of Arthur O. Haukland, the first man from North St. Paul to be killed in action during World War I.
